We recommend Norfolk Lines and their ferry service from Dover to Dunkirk. The operator been voted ‘Ferry Operator of the Year’ a number of times, their service runs every two hours and usually offers the cheapest fares. Dunkirk is also 30 minutes closer to Austria than Calais.

Try to avoid travelling on a Saturday. Lorries are banned from the roads in Europe on a Sunday. The 0200 Norfolk Lines departure gets you to Dunkirk at 0500 local and means the majority of your journey is in daylight. Overnight travel gets you to the hotel in the morning. Arrival time at the Staffler is about 1600.

Dunkirk to Luxembourg is 250 miles and about 4 hours. Luxembourg to the Staffler is 420 miles and about 6 hours. Journey time between 9 and 11 hours.

Fill tank at the first services on the motorway when you drive into Luxembourg.

Follow signs to Sarrbrucken (A13) and continue past NEUNKIRCHEN (A8)

Then on A8 toward PIRMASENS turning off motorway onto A10 main road signed PIRMASENS and LANDAU and travel on toward KARLSRUHE. Join the A8 motorway after about 40km

KARLSRUHE to STUTTGART (A8)

STUTTGART to MUNICH (A8)

MUNICH to WORGL (A8/12)

Travel along main street. Pick up sign left to the WILDSCHONAU. Travel up the mountain to Niederau and turn left into the village. Turn left at first main road. The Staffler is 70 meters down on the right.
